Get out of your head! Anxiety vs. Truth

Anxiety is taking over our lives and its time to fight it today!

Anxiety is real! We do want to negate the fact that in some cases there are real chemical imbalances and there are medicated for this. Anxiety is also A lot of what is happening in your mind and it’s important to find the root of this and to find a way to cope with our thoughts so that it does not control us or cause us physical pain.

I was diagnosed with anxiety my 3rd year in undergrad. Physically my body began to experience things that I never felt before. I experienced chest and back pains, I began to pass out and I spent more time in the emergency room then I did at home. Every time I would go to the emergency room my results would come back clear: Nothing was wrong with me but for some reason stress and worry had caused my body to respond in a very distressed way.

Part of my healing process stared with getting back to God. During college I wasn’t focus on my relationship with God, I let go and I became the author of my own story. I began to do things my own way and, how many of you know as Christians, THAT IS NEVER GOOD lol.

I had to evaluate what changed and sort of reel myself in. I knew that I was suffering consequences of Living a life without Christ. I knew nothing that I did worked so it was time to Seek god again, it was time to get back to his truths.

His truth is that he loves us, he has us covered, He has mighty plans for us, and he has already won the victory!

God has not made us to be anxious and fearful but bold and courageous.

Luke 12 4-7

4 “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

When god tells us to fear nothing of this world it is because of two things. He has us covered and because Christ has already conquered all the things of this world.

There is absolutely no doubt that we will experience things in this life time however, the lord will not let it overcome us. He will not let anything or anyone, even the enemy prosper against us.  it will not have the victory in the end. Remember that god has the final say, god has power over your circumstances and he even have power over the devil.  Remember the story of Job? Job was a faithful servant of God. The enemy believed that the only reason job was faithful to god was because of his goodness and favor. Satan knew god had placed a hedge of protection over job and he had to get permission from the lord to even test jobs faith. The lords said to the devil (Job 1:12 “Very well then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man, himself Do not lay a finger”). The very next day Satan began to strike everything away from job. He lost it all. His farm animals, his servants, and even his children. In that moment, Jobs response was to WORSHIP GOD! He did not worry, he did not get anxious, he did not curse God, he did not loose Faith, HE WORSHIPED!

Job trusted God so when trouble cam he was steadfast and un-wavered. Sure, he grieved his losses, but he still believed in the power of the Lord. After job had gone through all of this, God seen that he still spoke the truth about the lord and his mighty works and God restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he lost. God was still watching over Job in these difficult times and he was still protecting him from the enemy, and he observed Jobs faithfulness in the mist of everything and it was rewarded.

As Christians, when we are faced with anxiety we must remember. all fear and anxiety are from the enemy. NOT GOD. If we are not careful, we can let the enemy steal the glory out of our life’s with fear.  WE HAVE TO FIGHT IT.

HOW DO WE FIGHT IT FEAR AND ANXIETY ?

We can start fighting this by changing our thoughts. (TAKE EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE: GIVE IT TO GOD)

Every day, our alarm goes off, we wake up and there’s an immediate thought to start our day. Were stressed about what the day holds. We are thinking of all the things on our to do list. If you are a parent, your mind is set on getting the children together and making sure our household is staying afloat. …. what if we started our day different? What if we started our day with this simple prayer?

Lord, thank you for this day and everything that it holds. I give you this day father. Please take complete control. Order my steps, control my thought’s, be with me and guide me all day. In Jesus name, AMEN.

It doesn’t stop there, every time we receive a negative thought that wants to over power our minds ask god to replace it with his truth!Replace those thoughts with scriptures that god has given us to fight anxiety such as:

1 Peter 5:7 ESV “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

John 14:27 ESV “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do, I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Matthew 6:25-34 ESV

“Therefore, I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ...

1 Peter 5:6-7 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

Philippians 4:13 ESV” I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

We can fight by simply trusting God!

Most of the time we have anxiety because we are placing our anxiety into the hands of other things and NOT GOD.  We are looking to other things for answers, but God is saying, look to me, I am the source.

(Proverbs 3: 5-6“Trust in the lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. acknowledge him in all your ways and he will direct your path.”)

Take a moment to pray and ask god for direction and an answer. FULLY submit to him and allow him to be your strength.

You can control every thought. Take those negative thought’s captive and speak life over them! Bind them up and don’t allow them to take root in your heart. God has you covered, and no circumstance could ever overtake you because Jesus conquered it all.

I beat anxiety! You can beat anxiety!
